The names of each of these officers appeared on the list of recipients of hush money found by the Captain Superintendent of Police in the possession of Sham Yin, the accountant in the Gambling house.
The genuineness of that document was fully accepted by the Jury in Witchell's case, and there seems no reason to doubt its genuineness so far as these other officers are concerned, although, as I have already stated, the most important link in the chain of evidence against them is missing.
